Maun (Maon), an island west of the island of Pag, with the Maun Channel between the two; comprises an area of 13.5 sq km. Formed of chalk limestones which rise in places between 26 and 64 m; partly covered with scrubs and grass. The coast has a total length of 21.3 km. The coastal belt is predominantly shallow (about 7 m). The most suitable shelter for ships lies southwest of the highest top (depth up to 13 m); smaller vessels can anchor in the coves Sip, Pod Crkvini and Olipski Porat. The largest bay, Koromacno, is protected from the bora. The hamlet called Maun is situated in the interior of the island to the north, comprising several temporary inhabited houses. Suitable for swimming and water sports.
