Losinj, an island in the western part of the Kvarner Archipelago; 74,68 sq km (length 31 km); population 8,134. The island of Lošinj used to be connected to the island of Cres but the Romans dug a canal between the two islands thus making a passageway for boats and ships. Around the island of Lošinj there are several smaller islands such as Unije, Ilovik and Susak which mostly consists of sand. The largest place on the island of Lošinj is Mali Lošinj famous for its beautiful beaches and pine trees. One can also see dolphins in the Lošinj archipelago where there is a reservation for these beautiful animals. There is also a day dedicated to dolphins celebrated in August. In smaller places on the island such as Nerezine, Cunski and St. Jakov one can relax in the peace and quiet.

Mali Losinj ,Mali Lošinj is the biggest place on the island of Lošinj, a Central Adriatic island. Situated in the Augusta bay, rich in fish, Lošinj is the best-known sport and fishing centre of the Adriatic. Dense coniferous woods make it an attractive holiday resort, while a mild climate is suitable for a century-old health tourism. A special curiosity of Mali Lošinj are dolphins which inhabit its sea and contribute to an unforgettable atmosphere.

Veli Losinj , Veli Lošinj is a place at the narrow bay on the southeast side of the island of Lošinj belonging to the Cres-Lošinj Archipelago. This town of famous seamen is situated under the mount of Sveti Ivan. It is known by its high houses and luxurious villas of rich sea captains and mighty shipowners embellished by flowery gardens. Its dense vegetation consists of more than 80 various kinds of plants so that the town resembels a big harmonius pleasure garden.
Nerezine,Nerezine is a town and port on the north-eastern coast of the island of Losinj, 5 km south of the Straits of Osor, at the foot of the hill Osorscica. Chief occupations are farming, viniculture, fishing, seafaring and tourism.The town is famous for its lush vegetation and beautiful, unpolluted sea. From the hill Osorscica above Nerezine a view is offered on Losinj, the sea and the surrounding islands: Cres, Susak, Srakane, Unije; a nice path leads to the top
On the St. Anna's Day the local population cherishes the tradition of climbing to the top of Osorscica where a mass is held in the St. Nicholas' Chapel. Tourist resort Bucanje, situated between the coves Galboka and Studenac, almost connects Nerezine with Sveti Jakov (St. James).
