PULA

Pula, city and port in the southwestern part of Istria. The largest and most important port in Istria. It was inhabited by the Histri 3000 years ago and is therefore the oldest city on the eastern coast of the Adriatic. The arena from the 3rd century BC bears witness to this. The area has mild Mediterranean climate, well-indented coast, lavish vegetation and clean sea. There are rocky, concrete and pebble beaches with various facilities. Pula, being a commercial center, has shipbuilding, metal, textile and civil engineering industry, as well as glass production. Tourism started to develop at the beginning of the 19th century. The first modern swimming area Bagno Polese was opened in 1885, and the first modern hotel Riviera in 1908. Besides traditional tourism, nautical, congress and sports tourism are also well developed. The tourist offer includes all types of accommodation, various sports and recreational fields, dance terraces, disco clubs, night clubs, casinos and numerous restaurants. The best known cultural and entertainment events are Festival of Croatian Film held in the arena every year in July since 1954, Arena Pop Music Festival held in the arena in July, and Art & Music Festival – rock music festival held in August.
We recommend: Sightseeing of cultural and historic sites, especially the arena.
Those interested in diving courses can visit the diving clubs DC Puntizela, KLSub or Neptun. Hotel Histria has a congress center. Pula Airport lies 6 km from the center of Pula. There is also an airfield in Pula.
