MEDULIN

Medulin is a town located in the easternmost part of Istria, 11 km southeast of Pula, on the northeastern side of the well-indented bay of Medulin. The economy is based on agriculture, fishing and tourism. Sandy seabed, pine forest on the peninsula south of the town and accessibility have favored the development of tourism. Medulin harbor is very shallow (0,9-2,5 m) and, therefore, suitable only for smaller boats. The well-protected bay of Medulin is ideal for camping and swimming, therefore, a camping site has been built on the southeastern side of Kasteja Peninsula (2 km from Medulin). The camping site lies on the regional road Pula-Pomer-Memedulindulin-Liznjan.
In the past, a village of farmers and fishermen, nowadays, Medulin is one of the most important tourist destinations of southern Istria. Its shorelines are low, sandy and well indented. Particularly attractive are Medulin Archipelago, consisting of 10 islets, the coastal phenomenon called tombolo, lavish vegetation, as well as favorable climate. Besides hotels and camping sites, Medulin offers an extensive selection of rooms and apartments in family houses. It can accommodate up to 17 000 guests per day. Everything here is related to tourism. The main feature of Medulin’s tourist offer is sport. Medulin is also known for its discotheque, while lovers of live music and various dance rhythms can unwind on Medulin’s numerous terraces. Medulin is also known for classical music concerts that take place in summer months. Some forty restaurants in Medulin, serving fish, meat and vegetarian dishes, will definitely appeal to gourmands.

Numerous music, sports and entertainment events take place during summer in Medulin. The most important ones are: carnival (in February), sv. Jakov Apostle Day – patron saint of Medulin (in July), and Sanpjero Cup – a traditional sports youth competition in speed and agility of the town of Medulin and its surroundings (in July and August). On Izula Peninsula, you can find ruins of a roman summer residence and ancient graves. Prehistoric remains of castles lie on Mount Vrcevan and on the cape of Punta Kasteja. A silver-platted procession cross from the 15th century is kept in sv. Agneza church.source: Generalturist
