dugi otokDugi Otok Long Island is the largest island of Zadar archipelago with many numerous bays, most famous of which are Sakarun and Telašćica. Telašćica is also a beautiful Nature Park. Olive grove Saljsko polje situated on the island is locally called "olive forest" with olive trees, which are up to 700 years old. Mysterious world of the sea can be explored on many diving locations in the area. In the summer the island hosts many fishermen festivities, donkey races, sport activities and competitions, most famous of which are Saljske užance in the village Sala. Ferry lines connect the Long Island with Zadar on everyday basis.

Sali, Sali (about 1000 inhabitants) is the biggest village of the island Dugi Otok and have its name from the mediaeval salt production. Placed in the southern part of the island, it's the resort closer to the National Park of Kornati, from which is 5 miles far away. Surrounded by olive woods, the village is extended between two bays that lodge the harbor (Porat) and the beaches. In Sali there are three restaurants, a hotel, three bars, four food shops, a newspaper kiosk, the post office, a doctor and two sub schools.

 

You can go from one part of the village to the other in ten minutes walking. The car is useful only for trip in other places of island while the boat is the best mean of transport to use to discover the island. From Sali are organized daily trips by ship to Kornati islands, or, using the ordinary liners, it is possible to visit Zadar. 3 km far from Sali there is the Bay of Telascica with the homonym Natural Park and the suggestive Salt Lake Mir.

Zaglav, It is the ante-room for the Kornati archipelago, and is an attractive point for the boaters and people who a rest. The vilage is for the first time mentioned in the 15th century, and the Franciscan monastery and the St. Michael's church date from that time.
Beside nice beaches, Zaglav offers various sport possibilities such as volleyball on the sand, basketball and two diving schools. But every guest in Zaglav will with the help of local fishermen visit Nature Park Telašćica and Kornati archipelago on one of the everyday excursions.

Bozava,A small port in the north-eastern part of the island Dugi otok. The ruins of fortifications are dated from the Illyrian times. Božava is first mentioned in written documents in 1327. as Bosane. Although the inhabitants of Božava are hard working farmers and fishermen, most of them are included in tourism. You can find accomodation in private apartments or in hotels, and you are also welcomed in our nautical sport port. Kindness of the natives, as well as the long lasting tradition in tourism are the guaranty for your pleasant stay.

 

Savar,Small village, with well known cave Strašna peć, the first organized excursion destination on Dugi otok and wider, the same one that Austro-Hungarian emperor Franz Josef visited in 1904. A pre-Romanic Church of St. Pelegrin (7th-9th century) is situated on a small peninsula in the picturesque bay. It is one of the most important examples of old Croatian sacred architecture. The Baroque font with Glagolitic inscription from the 16th century was transferred to the parish church, dating from 1670. In the old times there was a monastery of hermit St. Antony with St. Andrew's church. Many beautiful coves are ideal for fishing and tourism. Savar is also well-known for the stone quarry, which provided the material for the building of Zadar Roman Forum, palaces and churches in Rome and Venice, as well UN building in New York.

 

Zdrelac, is a settlement on Pašman, one of the islands of Zadra archipelago linked with Biograd by ferry line. It was named after a narrow passage - Ždrilo, on which end it is located. This passage separates the Ždrelac island from the Pašman island. Ždrelac is situated on the intersection of tourist routs leading to surrounding islands and Kornati archipelago. It is very suitable destination for yachtsmen and water sports lovers. Nice beaches and clean sea are not only very appealing to tourists but also to people from Zadar..

LukaAttractive walking paths of the village Luka and natural beaches surrounding the place are the main reason for the half century of tourism. Luka is for the first time mentioned as Vallis Sancti Stephani in 1365. Safe bays for anchorage, and the beauty of the nature are the haven from everyday dinamic. Luka, is situated at the bottom of the highest island hill Vela Straža. Shelter of the "Golden Bay" is of the great interest for the boaters. Curative mud in the bay Boka offers a pleasant natural therapy.

 Sailing in Croatia

Vela Rava is an island in the Croatian part of the Adriatic Sea. It is situated in the Zadar archipelago, between Iž and Dugi Otok, 16 nautical miles from Zadar. It's area is 3.6 km2, and it has a population of 98 (as of 2001). The only settlements on the island are Vela Rava and Mala Rava. The coast of the island is very indented with 13 bays and 15.45km of coastline. The island is composed of dolomite. The primary industries are agriculture mainly olives, but some vineyards also and fishing.

 

Dragove,The place with the abundance of natural bays, with small islands on the north-east side named Tatišnjak, Veliki Planatak, Mali Planatak, Magarčić, and on the south-west side is the sand beach named Veli žal, looking at the popular small island Mežanj. A sanctuary Mala Gospa on the nearby hill Dumbovica is on the Holly Mary's day a popular place of pilgrimage.

Veli Rat - It has been settled in the Roman period, situated on the north end of Dugi otok on the coast of the Ćuna bay, which is through a narrow channel conected with the Pantera bay. Popular meeting point for boaters and nature lovers. The pearl of Veli Rat is the lighthouse Punta Bjanka, the biggest on the Adriatic's, 42 meter high. It shows the way to the sailors for more than 150 years. In the village there is a parish church St. Ante and in the yard of the lighthouse a chapel of St. Nicholas, the guardian of the sailors, with Roman missal from 1869. The is the ideal place for very popular romantic weddings.
