BUZET

Buzet lies in the very heart of the northern part of Croatian Istria. It covers an area of 165 km2, with about 6,059 inhabitants.

The old town of Buzet is situated on a 150-meter-high hill overlooking the fertile Mirna river valley, whereas the new part of the town called Fontana, spreads at the foot of the hill. Buzet is also known as the "City of Truffles" since it is situated in an area rich in this highly prized underground fungus.

You can easily arrive in Buzet by:
Car
If you are arriving in Istria by bus or car from the west, i.e. Slovenia, you will pass one of the three border crossings; Plovanija - Sečovlje, Kaštel - Dragonja or Požane – Sočerga (this border crossing is recommended since it is not so busy during the heavy traffic in Istria's peak season).

Buzet is situated some 50 km from cities such as Rijeka, Poreč, Trieste in Italy, Kopar in Slovenia, and 90 km from Pula.

Bus
Buzet has very good bus connections with Rijeka, Pula, Poreč, Umag, Trieste, Venice and Zagreb. The bus station is located at the crossing of Riječka street and the road Kopar – Rijeka.

Train
About 4 km north of Buzet towards Ćićarija is Buzet train station, with trains leaving in the direction of Pula and Slovenia.

Buzet lies at the very entrance to the leading emissive tourist countries of Europe, such as Italy and Slovenia, and is very well connected with all parts of Europe and Croatia. The area around Buzet is known as Buzeština, and includes the greater areas of nearby towns: Roština, Humština, Sovinjština, Vrhuvština,…
Buzet is located in an area between three large cities: Rijeka, Trieste and Kopar.
The natural beauties of this area include many small and vast valleys, canyons, hills, as well as mountains that are partly covered with forests.
